Growing manufacturer is seeking an experienced Structural Engineer to add to their team. The ideal candidate will have at least 5 years of experience in structural engineering in a manufacturing environment and a B.S. in Structural Engineering. PE certification desired. The focus of this role is column and beam fastener calculations in building applications, and communicating well with designers and customers. responsibilities:
- Design, size, and analyze structural systems-including support frames, barrier walls, equipment supports, light-gauge/cold-formed steel, and custom components-for strength, member sizing, connections, fasteners, and anchorage.
- Evaluate structures against dead, live, wind, seismic, and project-specific loading conditions following governing codes and standards.
- Perform structural analysis using engineering software, hand calculations, spreadsheets, and FEA to produce calculations, technical reports, design summaries, and sealed documents.
- Review project specifications, site conditions, and engineering requirements to define scope, mitigate technical risks, and collaborate cross-functionally with Sales, Manufacturing, and Project Management on cost-effective designs.
- Provide technical mentorship to junior staff while maintaining compliance with safety and quality standards and refining engineering tools and workflows.
- B.S. in Structural Engineering required (Master's preferred), Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred
- At least 5 years of structural engineering experience with industrial/commercial structures and building code-based design.
- Understanding of building codes and structural design standards related to steel
- Proven hands-on experience designing custom-engineered products, support frames, structural steel systems and anchored systems
- Proficiency with structural analysis software (RAM Elements preferred) and finite element analysis tools (SolidWorks Simulation preferred).
- Technical expertise in structural load paths, connection design, anchorage systems, practical constructability, and code compliance (wind, seismic, steel).
- Ability to work with calculations (hand, spreadsheet, and software-based), technical reports, and sealed documentation for custom applications.
