responsibilities:
- Inspect, evaluate, and test non-standard R&D setups to verify proper wiring practices, ground integrity, wire sizing, and power efficacy prior to testing or leadership demos.
- Serve as the official gatekeeper for prototype safety sign-off, granting clearance before AC mains or battery-powered builds are energized.
- Identify and resolve critical electrical hazards on open-chassis setups, specifically eliminating exposed live wiring, ungrounded metal chassis, and dangerously bypassed interlock switches.
- Safely wire, modify, and repair prototype builds across 120V/240V AC mains and low-voltage DC/battery systems. Restore safety interlocks, add temporary protective enclosures, and install proper strain reliefs.
- Function as the active operational link between Electrical Engineering and Environment, Health & Safety (EHS), upholding workplace safety without stalling rapid engineering development.
- Serve as an approachable, personable technical advisor across the lab, building positive working relationships with junior technicians, senior design engineers, and managers.
- Must have a active Journeyman Electrician License required. (Practical trade mastery and wiring authority are required.
- Deep hands-on experience wiring, modifying, and diagnosing 120V/240V AC mains circuits, low-voltage DC setups, and custom electrical enclosures.
- Highly personable, diplomatic, and articulate. Able to communicate safety requirements clearly and constructively to engineering peers and leadership.
- Ability to keep up with a high-velocity, fast-iterating product development environment.
- Background working in R&D laboratories, custom equipment builds, prototype shops, or industrial maintenanc is a preferred.
