Our client is seeking a Mechanical Product Verification Engineer who can bridge the gap between physical lab work and core verification activities. In this role, you will design and build mechanical and semi-automated test fixtures from scratch, while also developing test protocols and executing the testing yourself. If you love spending time in the lab, building practical CAD solutions in SolidWorks, and driving data integrity in a regulated environment, this is a phenomenal opportunity to join a tight-knit team with strong long-term potential.
location: St. Petersburg, Florida
job type: Contract
salary: $55 - 80 per hour
work hours: 8am to 5pm
education: Bachelors
responsibilities:
- Design mechanical test fixtures using 3D CAD (SolidWorks) to support test automation (e.g., repeated button actuation, accessory insertion/removal). Build, assemble, and troubleshoot these fixtures through direct, hands-on lab work.
- Develop test plans, protocols, procedures, and reports. Ensure all custom-built lab fixtures and test methods are rigorously documented and traced back to product requirements.
- Utilize standard lab equipment to perform tensile/compression, drop, leak, pressure, dose-delivery, aging, and sound testing.
- Collect and analyze test data, document results, and lead structured root-cause investigations to reproduce and resolve failure modes.
- Develop or support automated test methods using Python, LabVIEW, or PLC-based systems.
- Act as a customer-facing technical representative, communicating progress, risks, and test results directly to customer engineering teams.
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical Engineering strongly preferred) with 4+ years of verification, test, or design engineering experience.
- Experience in Medical Device product verification, design controls, and test-method validation is strongly preferred (familiarity with ISO 13485, FDA 21 CFR 820, and IEC 60601-1).
- Proficiency in SolidWorks (version 2024 or higher preferred). Familiarity with sensors, data acquisition, and automation scripting (Python/LabVIEW) is a major plus.
- Highly practical, solution-oriented, with a deep respect for regulated documentation, data integrity, and cross-functional teamwork in a shared lab space.
