Our Client is seeking a skilled and hands-on Manufacturing Engineer to support their CNC and Swiss CNC precision machining operations. In this role, you will act as the technical bridge between customer design intent and shop floor execution. You will analyze print requirements, develop robust machining processes, estimate cycle times, and design custom tooling and work-holding solutions that drive shop floor efficiency, part quality, and continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
Customer Requirements & Feasibility: Review, interpret, and evaluate customer drawings, models, and specifications to determine manufacturing feasibility and establish robust production routings.
New Product Introduction (NPI): Lead new part and new process development from concept through first-article inspection, ensuring seamless handover to production.
Process Optimization & Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities to reduce cycle times, shorten setup times, lower scrap rates, and optimize machine utilization across CNC and Swiss machining platforms.
Tooling, Workholding & Gage Design: Design and model custom fixtures, work-holding devices, and inspection gages using CAD software; generate detailed working drawings for internal fabrication or external tooling suppliers.
Programming & Machining Strategy: Collaborate with programmers and machinists to establish standard, efficient machining strategies, tooling selections, and cutting parameters.
Quality & Document Control: Manage engineering change orders (ECO) and revision change control. Review manufacturing documents, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and setup sheets to verify compliance with customer and quality system requirements.
Estimating & Quoting Support: Calculate accurate cycle time estimates, material usage, and process steps to support the sales and engineering quotation process.
Supplier Collaboration: Create engineering drawings and technical guidelines to communicate specifications and quality expectations clearly to external tooling, coating, and material vendors.
