Responsibilities
- Case Management and Support: Provide comprehensive support to hearing officers throughout all stages of legal proceedings. This includes organizing and maintaining case files, ensuring all documentation is current and easily accessible. The role also involves scheduling hearings, depositions, and meetings, and managing calendars for multiple hearing officers to ensure a smooth workflow.
- Legal Research and Analysis: Conduct thorough legal research on relevant statutes, regulations, and case law using legal databases like Westlaw and LexisNexis. You will be responsible for analyzing findings and preparing detailed summaries, memoranda, and reports to assist hearing officers in making informed decisions.
- Document Preparation: Draft, review, and proofread a wide range of legal documents, including, but not limited to, pleadings, motions, orders, subpoenas, and correspondence. You will ensure all documents are accurate, properly formatted, and in compliance with established legal standards and procedures.
- Hearing Preparation: Assist in the thorough preparation for hearings by organizing exhibits, witness lists, and evidence. You will also prepare hearing binders and assist with the logistical coordination required for seamless proceedings.
- Communication and Coordination: Serve as a primary liaison between hearing officers and various internal and external stakeholders, including attorneys, clients, and court personnel.
