We are a premier, high-volume construction firm managing a diverse portfolio of active projects across 11 major market sectors throughout Illinois and the surrounding states. We are currently seeking a highly motivated, detail-oriented Project Accountant who thrives in a fast-paced environment.
The ideal candidate will have a solid background in construction accounting and the ability to work independently to provide comprehensive financial support for multiple large-scale projects. Qualifications
- Experience: 3+ years of Construction Accounting experience is highly preferred (1 year minimum required).
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business, or a related field.
- Technical Savvy: Ability to read and interpret AP and Job Cost reports to resolve discrepancies efficiently.
- Communication: Strong ability to collaborate with multiple levels of employees, suppliers, and customers.
- Detail-Oriented: Exceptional organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks in a multi-task environment.

Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities
- Contract Management: Collaborate with Project Managers and support staff regarding contract documents, change orders, and modifications.
- Billing & Applications: Prepare and submit project-related billings using AIA forms. Manage entries into third-party portals (Textura, GC Pay, etc.).
- Cost Tracking: Enter change requests into the accounting system and maintain up-to-date project cost data.
- Documentation: Prepare, request, and maintain lien waivers, affidavits, and insurance certificates from subcontractors.
- Project Analysis: Monitor project-related expenses, investigate invoice discrepancies, and update weekly project projections with PMs.
- Reporting: Investigate project variances, report on profitability to management, and close out project accounts upon completion.
- Collections: Communicate directly with customers regarding unpaid contract billings to ensure healthy cash flow.
