We're looking for a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join our team and manage the day-to-day accounts payable (AP) and accounts receivable (AR) functions. This is a full-time, in-office position (Monday-Friday) at our Washington, D.C. headquarters, reporting directly to the Accounting Manager. The salary for this position is $65,000 - $72,000 per year, commensurate with experience.

Responsibilities

The ideal candidate has a strong understanding of core accounting principles and is committed to accuracy and efficiency. This role is a great opportunity to make a direct impact on our association's financial health.

Responsibilities:

• Accounts Payable: Process invoices, code expenses, and ensure timely payments to vendors.
  
  
• Accounts Receivable: Manage billing records, code for AR, and record cash receipts.
  
  
• Financial Management: Post financial transactions, prepare and make bank deposits, and reconcile accounts.
  
  
• Compliance & Reporting: Assist with financial reviews, support annual audits, and prepare sales and use tax returns.
  
  

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
  
  
• 1-5 years of experience in an AP/AR role.
  
  
• Excellent attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
  
  
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel.
  
  

Preferred Qualifications:

• Prior experience working with a non-profit organization.
  
  
• Experience using Sage Intacct accounting software.
