- Vendor & Broker Management: Standardize documentation for overseas suppliers and manage customs broker performance/KPIs.
- Port Operations: Resolve customs holds and discrepancies to minimize demurrage and logistics bottlenecks.
- Financial Control: Audit entries for errors and identify duty savings opportunities to optimize landed costs.
- Experience: 5–10+ years in import compliance (highly regulated commodities preferred).
- Technical Skills: Mastery of HTS codes and complex federal reporting standards.
- Soft Skills: Sharp analytical mind with the ability to translate trade law into business action.

Responsibilities
Regulatory Strategy & Risk Mitigation
- Enforce Legal Standards: Ensure every shipment strictly adheres to CBP regulations, the Lacey Act, and Anti-Dumping/Countervailing Duty (AD/CVD) requirements.
- Audit Readiness: Maintain a "gold standard" for record-keeping to ensure the company is prepared for any regulatory audit at a moment's notice.
- Regulatory Intelligence: Proactively monitor shifts in trade policy and adjust internal workflows to stay ahead of new requirements.
- Critical Documentation: Direct the review of commercial invoices, packing lists, and bills of lading to ensure 100% accuracy.
- Classification & Valuation: Act as the subject matter expert for HTS classification, valuation methodology, and Country of Origin (COO) labeling.
- Broker Oversight: Manage third-party customs brokers to ensure they are filing entries correctly and meeting performance KPIs.
