The Role at a Glance The Staff Accountant will report directly to the Controller, serving as a key pillar in the preparation of financial statements and the management of construction loan draws.
Key Responsibilities:
- Full-Cycle Accounting: Manage AP (including 1099s), AR, and General Ledger reconciliations.
- Financial Reporting: Prepare monthly financial statements and supporting schedules for multiple entities.
- Job Costing & Analysis: Execute job cost accounting, journal entries, and amortization of prepaid expenses.
- Loan Administration: Facilitate construction loan draw requests to ensure project liquidity.
- Operational Support: Partner with the Controller to streamline departmental operations and special projects.
Required Qualifications
- Experience: Minimum of 5 years in a similar accounting role.
- Environment: Proven success in a multi-company environment using computerized accounting software.
- Technical Skills: * Intermediate to Advanced Microsoft Excel and Windows proficiency.
- Touch typing speed of 50-60 wpm.
- Touch typing speed of 50-60 wpm.
- Education: High School Diploma or GED (Degree in Accounting/Finance preferred).
- Industry Experience: Direct experience in Single-Family Lot Development, Homebuilding, or Heavy Construction (Excavation, Utility, or Paving).
- Software: Previous experience with Trimble Spectrum is a significant advantage.
- Analytical Rigor: Ability to interpret complex data to identify and resolve inconsistencies.
- Self-Direction: Capable of setting priorities independently and meeting strict deadlines.
- Poise: Ability to maintain professional diplomacy in a high-stakes, fast-paced environment.
