Responsibilities
You aren’t just pushing paper; you’re the "fact-checker." Florida has some of the toughest building codes in the world due to hurricanes. You’ll be the expert on these rules. You are the bridge between the people who make the materials and the people building the roof.
- Code Compliance & Permitting: Serve as the subject matter expert on Florida Building Code (Chapter 15) and ASCE 7 wind loads; manage all documentation, NOAs, and Product Approvals required for City of Jacksonville (COJ) permitting.
- Manufacturer Liaison: Act as the primary technical contact for manufacturer reps to resolve specification discrepancies and ensure all materials meet architectural and wind-uplift requirements.
- Warranty & Quality Assurance: Oversee the administration of Pre-Job Notices and technical reports necessary to secure NDL (No Dollar Limit) warranties for completed projects.
- Contract Review & Document Control: Audit roofing contracts for technical accuracy regarding material substitutions and maintain a centralized digital library of SDS, data sheets, and installation manuals.
- Technical Estimating Support: Review and validate project quotes to ensure proposed systems are fully compliant with local building codes and site-specific safety standards.
- Submittal & Design Management: Compile comprehensive technical packages for commercial roofing systems (TPO, EPDM, Metal) and verify that shop drawings and tapered insulation layouts meet manufacturer specs and drainage codes.
