Responsibilities
Operating within the highly regulated California transportation sector, the Admin & HR Coordinator in Bakersfield plays a dual-critical role. This position bridges commercial efficiency with strict labor and transportation compliance. The individual safeguards profit margins by managing terminal overhead and vendor expenses, while simultaneously protecting the fleet by enforcing rigid DOT, FMCSA, and California labor laws across a diverse driver workforce.
Core Deliverables
- Fleet Admin & Commercial Control: Auditing high-volume fuel cards, maintenance billing, and terminal OpEx. Cross-referencing driver trip sheets, ag load tickets, and shipper detention times to protect margins and ensure accurate invoicing.
- Regulatory HR & Compliance: Building and auditing Class A Driver Qualification (DQ) files, administering the FMCSA Drug & Alcohol Clearinghouse pool, and monitoring ELD data for Hours-of-Service (HOS) compliance.
- CA Labor & Payroll Prep: Correctly translating logistics data (piece-rate miles, hourly local runs, wait times) into accurate data for payroll processing while strictly enforcing complex California meal and rest break laws.
- Workforce Retention & Risk Mitigation: Leading targeted local driver recruitment, executing structured onboarding/offboarding (including immediate asset retrieval), and meticulously documenting safety incidents or worker's comp claims to insulate the company from high-risk liabilities.
