Compensation: $175,000 - $225,000 base salary + benefits
About the Role We are seeking a strategic, hands-on Vice President of Finance to serve as a key financial leader across our multi-business-line enterprise. In this role, you will go beyond traditional oversight - we need an analytical strategist who can actively build, dissect, and present complex financial narratives to executive leadership and stakeholders.
Reporting directly to the executive team, you will oversee Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A), cash management, and treasury operations. You will also bring deep expertise in unit economics, rigorously tracking both physical product COGS and digital/SaaS software delivery costs.
What You Bring to the Table
- Experience: 10+ years of progressive financial leadership experience, with proven performance as a VP of Finance, Finance Director, or Senior FP&A Leader managing multi-entity or multi-line organizations.
- Strategic Communication: strong ability to build financial decks and confidently present the "current state of the business" to stakeholders and executive peers.
- Cost Accounting Mastery: Hands-on experience analyzing and managing both physical COGS and digital/SaaS unit economics.
- Treasury Expertise: Deep experience in active cash management, liquidity forecasting, and banking relationship oversight.
- Geographic Flexibility: Willingness to travel periodically to Iowa City, IA and Minnesota as business operational needs require.
- Industry Experience (Plus): Prior exposure to publishing, media, or printing business models is a strong plus, though not required.

Key Responsibilities
- FP&A & Strategic Presenting: Lead the FP&A function. Develop, refine, and present comprehensive monthly/quarterly financial models, forecasts, and variance analyses. Clearly translate raw operational data into actionable strategic narratives for executive leadership and board members.
- Multi-Business Line Oversight: Direct full financial operations across distinct business streams, maintaining clear reporting, profitability analyses, and cost-allocation methodologies for each line.
- COGS & Cost Accounting Management: Manage and optimize complex cost structure models. Maintain strict oversight of both physical product COGS (materials, inventory, distribution) and digital/SaaS COGS (hosting, software delivery, tech stack infrastructure).
- Cash Management & Treasury Operations: Direct cash flow forecasting, liquidity planning, debt monitoring, banking relationships, and working capital optimization across all entities.
- Operational Leadership: Lead, mentor, and elevate the finance and accounting team, driving continuous improvement in financial controls, software systems, and close processes.
