We are seeking a high-energy Assistant Market General Manager to partner with our local leadership team at Interstate Batteries. In this role, you will help run the day-to-day engine of our market operations—combining team leadership, route sales optimization, dealer account management, and warehouse inventory control.
This is not a sit-behind-a-desk role. You’ll be on the floor and out in the field, working side-by-side with Route Sales Managers, solving problems for dealer accounts, and making sure our distribution runs seamlessly every day.
What We’re Looking For
- Experience: 3+ years in route sales, route distribution management, automotive supply, or multi-unit commercial operations.
- Transferable Backgrounds: strong experience in beverage distribution (e.g., DSD, route delivery), tool/equipment sales, auto parts wholesale, or industrial supply translates directly into success here.
- Leadership Style: You lead by example. You’re comfortable jumping into a warehouse operation or ride-along just as quickly as meeting with a key account owner.
- Skills & Requirements:
- Valid Driver’s License with a clean driving record.
- Capability to meet the physical demands of battery handling and warehouse logistics.
- strong customer service, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Familiarity with route tracking, CRM, or inventory management software.
- Valid Driver’s License with a clean driving record.
- Direct-hire stability with a national, industry-leading commercial brand.
- Clear pathway for advancement into full Market General Manager roles.
- Competitive compensation package with performance incentives.
salary: $55,517 - $65,000 per year
shift: First
work hours: 8 AM - 5 PM
education: High School
Responsibilities
What You’ll Do
- Drive Route & Sales Performance: Partner with Route Sales Managers to optimize daily delivery runs, step in on key routes when needed, and ensure top-tier service to our dealer network.
- Build Dealer Relationships: Connect with automotive, commercial, marine, and industrial dealer accounts to expand inventory placement, resolve service issues, and identify new business opportunities.
- Manage Local Warehouse & Inventory: Oversee product rotation (FIFO), core battery scrap/recycling intake, stock levels, and warehouse safety protocols.
- Lead & Coach the Team: Mentor, train, and support warehouse personnel and drivers to maintain high operational standards and safety compliance.
