Responsibilities

• Supervise, mentor, and foster a collaborative environment for staff members.
• Assign and review work, evaluate performance, and serve as a constructive buffer between daily staff execution and senior leadership expectations.
• Oversee daily GL functions, including journal entry reviews/approvals, account reconciliations, chart of accounts maintenance, and intercompany transactions.
• Lead and coordinate monthly, quarterly, and annual closing processes.
• Analyze financial results, investigate variances, and ensure closing schedules are completed accurately and on time.
• Support the preparation of GAAP-compliant financial statements and management reports.
• Maintain strong internal controls and coordinate documentation for internal and external audits.
• Continuously evaluate accounting procedures to streamline closing cycles, adapt to new accounting standards, and increase efficiency across the department.

Qualifications & Skills

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting with 5+ years of progressive experience in accounting, auditing, or financial analysis.
• Hands-on supervisory or team lead experience with direct report management.
• Deep knowledge of GAAP, general ledger management, and balance sheet reconciliations.
• Exceptional initiative, strong communication skills, and the proven ability to shield teams from distractions while delivering clear metrics to upper management.
• CPA and/or prior healthcare industry experience is a plus.
• Public accounting background is a plus.
