In this role, you won’t just be counting parts; you’ll be the gatekeeper of precision. You’ll ensure our machinists have exactly what they need—from carbide inserts to custom jigs—to keep our spindles turning and our production on schedule.
Key Responsibilities
- Inventory Management: Track, organize, and manage a vast inventory of cutting tools, holders, abrasives, and precision measuring instruments.
- Technical Support: Identify and kit tooling for specific jobs based on blueprints or setup sheets.
- Procurement: Monitor stock levels and initiate purchase orders for consumables to ensure zero downtime.
- Tool Maintenance: Inspect returning tools for wear or damage; coordinate sharpening services or replacements as needed.
- Database Accuracy: Maintain our inventory management system (ERP/MRP) with real-time data entry.
- Organization: Maintain a 5S standard within the tool room, ensuring every item has a labeled home.
- Machining Knowledge: You must know the difference between a ball nose end mill and a reamer. Familiarity with brands like Sandvik, Kennametal, or Iscar is a major plus.
- Technical Literacy: Ability to read shop prints and understand basic machining tolerances.
- Software Proficiency: Experience with inventory software, Tool Crib management systems, or Microsoft Excel.
- Attention to Detail: You’re the type of person who notices when a .005" shim is missing from its drawer.
- Physical Stamina: Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and remain active on the shop floor throughout the shift.
