Responsibilities

• Submerged Arc Welding (SAW): Set up, operate, and maintain automated sub arc welding equipment (weld tractors, manipulators) to produce high-quality, deep-penetration welds on heavy structural steel or industrial components.
• MIG Welding (GMAW): Perform manual MIG welding to join components, ensuring welds meet strength, dimensional, and aesthetic standards while minimizing distortion.
• Fabrication and Fit-up: Read and interpret blueprints, welding symbols, and technical drawings to align, clamp, and tack-weld parts into position prior to final welding.
• Process Control: Select correct wire, flux, and shielding gases; adjust voltage, amperage, and wire feed speed for optimal performance.
• Quality Inspection: Visually inspect welds and use measuring tools to ensure compliance with quality standards, specifications, and welding procedures.
• Maintenance & Safety: Maintain welding equipment (guns, torches, wire feeders) in clean, working condition and follow all safety protocols, including the use of PPE and adhering to OSHA standards.
• Finishing: Use grinders and hand tools to remove slag, flux, and splatter, ensuring smooth surfaces.

The essential functions of this role include:

working in a smoke free environment

wearing steel toe shoes

working in a non-temperature controlled environment

manual lifting up to 50lbs

standing for 8 hours at one time

working up to 10 hrs of overtime per week
