The Forklift Operator is responsible for the safe and efficient movement of materials, equipment, and products throughout the warehouse and distribution facility. This role requires a high degree of spatial awareness, a commitment to safety, and the ability to maintain accurate inventory records using digital scanning technology.

Responsibilities

1. Equipment Inspection and Safety

Before starting a shift, an operator must ensure the machine is safe to use:

• Pre-shift Inspections: Checking fluid levels (oil, water, hydraulic fluid), tire pressure, and brake functionality.
  
  
• Battery/Fuel Management: Charging electric batteries or safely changing propane tanks.
  
  
• 
  
  Safety Compliance: Ensuring alarms, lights, and horns are operational to comply with OSHA or other safety regulations.
  
  
• 
  
  Reporting: Documenting and reporting any mechanical issues to maintenance teams immediately.
  
  

2. Loading and Unloading

This is the most frequent physical task of the role:

  Freight Handling: Safely unloading incoming delivery trucks and loading outgoing shipments.
  
  
• Stability Management: Ensuring that the weight of the load is distributed correctly to prevent the forklift from tipping.

  Precision Driving: Navigating narrow aisles and high-traffic areas while carrying heavy or oversized loads.
