Job Summary Are you an experienced facilities or industrial mechanic looking for a stable, permanent career with a premier manufacturing team? Ball Plant III is seeking a skilled Service Equipment Mechanic to oversee the operation, troubleshooting, repair, and maintenance of our facility's critical infrastructure.
In this role, you will manage our facility HVAC, environmental controls, fire protection systems, process utilities, and our Cogeneration (Cogen) and Heat Recovery Steam Generator (HRSG) systems. If you have a background in building services and mechanical systems, we want you on our team. Education, Experience & Core Requirements
- Education: High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Experience: Minimum of 3 years of experience in Building Services, including hands-on experience with HVAC chilled water, Desiccant, and Direct Expansion (DX) systems.
- Licensing Requirements: A valid Fireman's License is required.
- Tools: Must possess and maintain your own trade-related hand tools to perform daily tasks.
- Technical Skills: Necessary experience with pneumatic systems, pumping systems, and a thorough knowledge of mechanical production equipment.
- Safety: Knowledge of basic safety protocols, including Lock-Out/Tag-Out (LOTO) and Confined Space entry.
To be considered for this role, candidates must possess or have the ability to obtain the following:
Core Operational Abilities
- MA 2nd Class Fireman License (Required)
- Read, write, and speak English fluently
- Universal Refrigeration License (Preferred)
- Follow manufacturing and equipment specifications
- Wastewater Treatment Certification (Preferred)
- Read and interpret blueprints and schematics
- Electrician / MA Journeyman Electrician License
- Use Windows-based computers and CMMS software
- Class A or B CDL* Use precision measuring devices and understand tolerances
- Knowledge of HVAC, hydraulics, and electrical schematics
- Use various hand tools, power tools, and machine tools (drills, lathes, millers, etc.)
- Knowledge of plumbing and piping systems
- Learn and apply strict quality standards of workmanship
- Ability to pass a Leadership Assessment
- Ability to obtain forklift, pallet-jack, and man-lift licenses

Responsibilities
Primary Responsibilities
- Facility & Cogen Operations (40%): Monitor and maintain the Building Management System (BMS), including hot water heating, cooling/AC, process refrigeration, compressed air, hydraulics, and fire protection sprinkler systems. Operate the Cogen unit and HRSG, ensuring all facility systems run within specified guidelines and reporting any out-of-specification conditions.
- Preventative Maintenance (30%): Document and execute preventative maintenance (PM) on all facility-related equipment utilizing our Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
- Inventory & Work Orders (20%): Manage parts inventory and track/update work orders using the CMMS.
- Calibration & Utilities (10%): Calibrate monitoring equipment to ensure system accuracy. Perform additional duties as assigned by leadership.
