We are looking MIG, Flex and Stick welders for a company in Bristol, VA.  This is a 2nd shift position. Experience needed. Hours are 5:30p-5a Monday-Thursday, 5:30p-2a on Fridays. $20/hr The Welder is responsible for performing electric arc welding operations to fabricate heavy structural steel components like beams, bridge girders, plates, channels, and angles. Working in a fast-paced manufacturing shop, the role focuses on manual and machine welding to secure structural joints safely and efficiently.

• Experience: Typically requires at least 2 years of welding experience in a heavy manufacturing or industrial environment.
  
  
• Physical demands: Ability to stand, bend, and stoop continuously, and lift 25+ pounds regularly in a non-climate-controlled shop environment.
  
  
• Skills:  manual dexterity, proficiency with standard hand tools (grinders, clamps, jigs), and a solid understanding of structural steel blueprints.

Responsibilities

• Welding operations: Perform electric arc welding (primarily in the horizontal position) to weld stiffeners, connect flanges to webs, and attach cover plates.
  
  
• Blueprint reading: Interpret standard welding symbols and notations directly from shop drawings and fabrication blueprints.
  
  
• Setup & material handling: Set up welding equipment by selecting correct voltages, amperage, and electrode sizes. Use hoists and overhead cranes to move heavy steel pieces onto welding skids.
  
  
• Preparation & finish: Prep steel surfaces by cleaning, brushing, and grinding prior to welding; clean and finish surfaces post-weld.
  
  
• Safety & quality control: Inspect completed work for proper fusion and strength while adhering strictly to all company safety guidelines.
