Job Summary We are seeking a highly skilled Senior CNC Lathe Setup Machinist with a minimum of 10 years of experience in CNC turning.
The ideal candidate will independently set up, program, troubleshoot, and optimize CNC lathes equipped with live tooling and multi-axis capabilities.
Core Responsibilities
- Setup & Programming: Independently set up multi-axis CNC lathes with live tooling from start to finish. Write complete CNC programs at the machine and edit existing programs without assistance.
- Operation & Optimization: Select proper tooling, work holding, and cutting parameters. Optimize cycle times while maintaining quality standards.
- Inspection & Quality: Read/interpret complex blueprints and GD&T. Perform first-piece inspections and verify dimensions using micrometers, calipers, bore gauges, and indicators.
- Troubleshooting: Perform tool offsets, wear adjustments, and machine calibrations. Troubleshoot machine, tooling, and quality issues independently.
- Leadership: Maintain an organized work area and assist in mentoring less experienced machinists.
- Experience: 8 -10 years of CNC lathe setup experience in a precision manufacturing environment.
- Technical Expertise: Extensive experience with live tooling, multi-axis, bar-fed, and sub-spindle CNC lathes.
- Programming: Mastery of G-code and M-code; proven ability to write and edit programs independently.
- Precision: Experience holding tight tolerances (±0.0005" or better) machining stainless steel, aluminum, alloy steels, plastics, and exotics.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 lbs.
- Frequent bending, reaching, and safe equipment operation.
