We are seeking a Distrubtion Manager for a premier nationwide gourmet food company. This will be a hands-on Manager role to lead our high-performing Kansas City warehouse team.
ABOUT THE ROLE (WORKING MANAGER)
We aren't looking for someone to sit behind a desk all day. We need an authentic, personable, and active leader to manage daily DC operations, oversee FSQA standards, handle supply budgets, and lead our tight-knit crew of 8–9 employees.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Outbound & Inbound Logistics: Manage daily workflows (95% small parcel). Direct-book LTL freight loads and communicate daily with carriers using TMS system.
• Quality Assurance & FSQA: Maintain food safety logs in Microsoft Excel/SharePoint to guarantee FDA audit readiness. Generate BOLs and manage carrier damage/meltage claims.
• Inventory & Supply Management: Conduct regular FEFO lot tracking and cycle counts. Order operational supplies within monthly budget limits.
• Hands-On Operations & Fleet: Safely operate Sit-Down Forklifts and Walkie Riders. Manage local delivery fleet DOT compliance. Perform active floor work, including short-distance heavy lifting (75 to 130 lbs rail-to-pallet transfers).
• Team Leadership: Build trust, maintain high morale, and drive long-term retention through supportive, approachable management.
QUALIFICATIONS:
• 3-4+ years (up to 8+ preferred) in warehouse management, logistics, or food distribution.
• Direct experience booking LTL carriers and managing freight.
• Proficiency in navigating Microsoft Excel and SharePoint to manage logs and standard templates.
• Skilled in operating Sit-Down Forklifts and Walkie Riders (OSHA cert is a plus).
• Physically able to perform heavy lifting (up to 130 lbs short-distance).
• Personable, team-oriented leadership style.

Warehouse Operations & Logistics
- Oversee all inbound and outbound warehouse operations, ensuring timely and accurate shipment of products (predominantly small parcel).
- Direct-book loads and maintain daily communications with LTL freight carriers.
- Handle direct inventory management and warehouse operational supply ordering, adhering strictly to a monthly budget.
- Safely and efficiently operate material handling equipment (Sit-Down Forklift and Walkie Rider Forklift).
- Perform regular, physically active warehouse tasks, including direct hands-on lifting and transferring items (rail to pallet) weighing 75 lbs to 130 lbs.
- Maintain all FSQA logs, records, and compliance documentation to ensure audit readiness for FDA visits.
- Navigate and update quality records on Microsoft Excel via SharePoint.
- Generate Bills of Lading (BOLs) and other operational documentation via Excel templates.
- Investigate and discern carrier-related damage and meltage claims vs. internal shipping errors.
- Provide supportive, personable leadership to a small, lean team of approximately 8–9 employees.
- Drive high employee engagement and maintain positive team morale to promote long-term retention.
