A leading food manufacturing company in Suffolk County, NY is seeking a skilled Maintenance Mechanic to join their team, offering competitive pay, comprehensive health, dental, and vision insurance, a 401(k) with company match, paid time off, and uniform service. In this full-time role, you will be responsible for keeping the plant running at peak efficiency by performing routine preventative maintenance (PM) and emergency electrical and mechanical repairs on high-speed production, packaging, and processing equipment. Additionally, you will handle general facility upkeep, servicing compressed air lines, central vacuum units, and HVAC systems while strictly adhering to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), and food safety regulations.

Responsibilities

• Perform scheduled Preventative Maintenance (PM) on high-speed food processing, packaging, conveying, and sealing equipment.
  
  
• Troubleshoot, repair, and overhaul mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical components on live production lines to minimize downtime.
  
  
• Diagnose and resolve electrical issues (ranging from 24VDC control circuits up to 480VAC 3-phase motors, VFDs, sensors, and basic PLC systems).
  
  
• Respond quickly to line stoppages, perform root-cause analysis, and complete emergency repairs.
  
  
• Maintain facility utilities, including central vacuum systems, compressed air lines, pumps, compressors, and boiler systems.
  
  
• Perform preventive maintenance and minor repairs on heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems to maintain appropriate air quality and cleanroom pressures.
  
  
• Complete general facility maintenance (lighting, plumbing, doors, dock plates, and basic structural upkeep).
  
  
• Execute all maintenance activities in strict compliance with GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices), HACCP, and FDA/USDA food safety standards.
  
  
• Follow rigorous Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), arc flash, confined space, and hot work safety protocols.
  
  
• Maintain clean work areas before, during, and after repairs to avoid any risk of product contamination (foreign material, chemical, or microbial).
