Our client in the Alexandria, VA area is seeking a skilled and dependable Fleet Technician for a long-term, full-time temporary contract at a pay rate between $28 to $30 per hour. In this role, you will work under general supervision to perform maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs on a diverse fleet, including municipal motor vehicles, public works machinery, heavy trucks, and specialized construction equipment. Additional responsibilities include assisting with quality control, providing diagnostic support to team members, and preparing seasonal equipment. Responsibilities

 Diagnostics & Maintenance: Perform detailed inspections, scheduled maintenance, and skilled repairs on gas and diesel-powered vehicles and equipment.
• System Repair: Diagnose and repair engines, transmissions, electrical/computer systems, brakes, HVAC, fuel systems, emissions, assemblies, and perform wheel alignments.
• Quality & Safety: Conduct road tests to verify repairs, maintain accurate records of labor and parts, and adhere to workplace safety protocols.
• Emergency Response: Respond to field service calls for city vehicles and participate in on-call duty during emergency situations and severe weather events.
• Equipment Setup: Maintain seasonal equipment (e.g., snowplows, leaf collection units) and outfit public safety vehicles with emergency lighting and accessories.
• Fleet Assessment: Recommend repairs, structural modifications, or equipment retirement when appropriate.
