The Medical Assistant plays a vital role in ensuring our practice runs smoothly, balancing both clinical and administrative responsibilities. This position requires flexibility, a team-first mindset, and the ability to step in and assist with clinical duties during peak hours or when other clinical staff are away. The ideal candidate delivers high-quality, age-appropriate patient care while maintaining seamless front- and back-office operations.
Key Responsibilities
Clinical & Medical Support
Patient Intake: Take and record patient vital signs, including weight, height, and temperature.
Provider Assistance: Help the physician with administering medications, diagnostic testing, and various medical treatments.
Lab Operations: Prepare laboratory specimens and perform basic on-site laboratory tests.
Equipment Care: Sterilize, clean, and maintain medical equipment to ensure safety and longevity.
Documentation: Update patient tracking and clinical data accurately within the Electronic Medical Records (EMR) system.
Dynamic Coverage: Assist with clinical tasks during busy periods or to cover for the Clinical Coordinator and other clinical staff due to illness, vacation, or competing priorities.
Administrative & Front Office
Patient Scheduling: Efficiently schedule and reschedule patient appointments.
Communication: Answer incoming phone calls, return messages promptly, and handle incoming/outgoing fax requests.
Records Management: Record, update, and maintain comprehensive medical records.
Lab Coordination: Schedule external laboratory tests and proactively collect patient reports.
Form Updates: Ensure established patient files have updated and accurate paperwork per practice protocol (including Consent, HIPAA, Financial, and Demographic forms).
Chart Prepping: Accurately prep patient charts prior to appointments, ensuring all necessary test results and operative reports are located and uploaded.

Patient-Centered Care: All duties must be performed in accordance with licensed professional direction, utilizing standards appropriate for the patient's age and developmental stage.
Safety First: Maintain strict adherence to infection control protocols, body substance precautions, and patient safety guidelines.
Ergonomics: Utilize proper body mechanics during all patient transfers and physical tasks.
Task Management: Follow through diligently on all tasks and orders assigned by providers.
