We're looking for an Associate Director to join our Risk Development Team. This person will provide technical leadership and strategic direction for a variety of credit risk initiatives. A key focus of the role is the execution and deployment of credit models and strategies that power our core loans decisioning platforms. You'll play a critical role in modernizing our decisioning ecosystem by collaborating with risk strategy, product, and technology teams to deliver significant business impact. This role is onsite 3 days a week in Wilmington, DE or Baltimore, MD.

responsibilities:
- Strategy Implementation: Lead the design, development, testing, and implementation of credit risk models, workflows, and decision strategies across our risk platforms.
- Technical Leadership: Provide technical direction and best practices, ensuring all initiatives align with modern architecture principles.
- Cross-functional Collaboration: Partner with teams in Credit Strategy, Product, and Technology to define and deliver scalable, resilient solutions.
- Platform Modernization: Apply expertise in cloud-native technologies, containerization (Docker, Kubernetes), and DevOps to help modernize the decisioning platform.
- Problem-Solving: Navigate ambiguous and changing requirements while consistently delivering high-quality, business-critical solutions.
qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, CIS/MIS, engineering, or a related statistical field (Master's degree preferred).
- 8+ years of experience in financial services with a strong background in using predictive models and strategy-based decisioning platforms.
- Experience designing, developing, and maintaining software using object-oriented principles in languages like Java and Python.
- Proficiency in SQL and experience working with large datasets.
- Solid understanding of modern system architecture (microservices, APIs, event-driven design).
