job summary: We are seeking a Technical Lead Engineer to join our dynamic team and oversee the design and management of a variety of solar utility scale projects. In this role, you will have the opportunity to utilize your expertise and lead a team of electrical design engineers while creating innovative solutions for renewable energy systems. With a focus on solar (PV) panel design and electrical system development. This is a Hybrid role. You must be able to go to one of the company locations 3 days out of the week. location: Hybrid, US Nationwide job type: Permanent salary: $130,000 - 160,000 per year work hours: 8am to 4pm education: Bachelors responsibilities: Function as the technical lead design engineer, managing and leading teams to successfully design and deliver solar utility scale projects.Develop electrical design deliverables for solar (PV) panels, including one-line drawings, collection system layouts, power cable sizing, cable schedules, and equipment sizing.Actively participate in management, project scheduling, and work resource planning meetings to ensure the successful execution of projects.Interface directly with clients, vendors, and subcontractors to establish effective communication channels and drive project success.Ensure the quality assurance and quality control (QA/QC) of projects, including signing off on designs and providing mentorship to junior engineers.Lead a team of electrical design engineers and provide guidance and oversight in accordance with renewable energy design standards.Create accurate and detailed one-line drawings for solar projects, capturing the overall system layout and configuration.Determine appropriate power cable sizing and develop comprehensive cable schedules to support the electrical infrastructure of solar installations.Conduct electrical equipment sizing and selection, considering factors such as MV and LV switchgear, pad mount transformers, panels, breakers, protective relays, inverters, batteries, battery chargers, disconnect switches, surge arrestors, and various types of cables.Utilize your experience with engineering calculations, including load flow analysis, short circuit analysis, reactive capability analysis, arc flash analysis, cable ampacity study, grounding analysis, AC-DC voltage drop calculations, VOC/ISC calculations, and AC/DC cable sizing. Preferred Qualifications: Completion of 1-2 utility scale solar projects (75+MW) as part of the design team.Minimum of 2 years of solar (PV) design experience, showcasing proficiency in the field.Power generation (LV/MV) design experience, including a solid understanding of relevant industry practices.Advanced knowledge and understanding of power generation systems and their associated electrical components.Professional Engineering (PE) License, demonstrating a high level of competence and expertise.Experience in QA/QC of solar (PV) design projects, ensuring compliance with design standards and specifications. Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree in engineering from a recognized accredited program.Minimum of 8 years of related work experience, with a focus on solar utility scale projects and electrical design.Ability to fulfill pre-employment onboarding requirements, such as criminal/civil background checks, drug screening, and motor vehicle records search, in compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
