job summary: Our client is seeking a hands-on Design Engineer with Project Management experience to lead the design and execution of medium to high complexity engineering projects. This is not a traditional PM role - the ideal candidate is a technically strong design engineer who has taken products from concept to manufacturing, understands PCBA development and system integration, and can manage the full project lifecycle including budget, schedule, and client relationships. The ideal candidate brings experience in power design, renewable energy, or energy infrastructure. APPLY TODAY! location: Saint Petersburg, Florida job type: Contract salary: $55 - 60 per hour work hours: 8am to 4pm education: Bachelors responsibilities: Lead engineering design projects from concept through to manufacturing, serving as the technical authority on the team.Manage global cross-functional project teams, driving accountability across design, engineering, and operations.Own project budgets, schedules, quality standards, and risk mitigation within a Quality Management System (QMS).Conduct formal design reviews with customers to ensure designs meet technical specifications and requirements.Translate customer requirements into executable scopes of work, proposals, and project plans.Facilitate regular project communication forums - internally and externally - covering status, issues, changes, and resolutions.Maintain strong relationships with customers, senior management, and global stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle.Assist with business and contract negotiations, ensuring alignment with both client expectations and internal strategy.Identify and implement cost-reduction opportunities by streamlining processes and eliminating inefficiencies.Escalate risks and issues appropriately while keeping teams focused and motivated during periods of change. Qualifications & Requirements Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a closely related engineering discipline.Minimum of 8 years of experience with a strong foundation in hands-on product design and engineeringProven ability to manage projects from design through to manufacturing, including budgeting, scheduling, and risk mitigation.Demonstrated ability to manage project financials, schedules, and quality standards within a QMS.strong communicator - able to present technical information clearly to both engineering teams and executive stakeholders.
