Position Overview We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Patient Registration Specialist to manage inpatient and outpatient admissions. In this fast-paced role, you will ensure seamless healthcare access by handling registrations, verifying insurance, and accurately calculating and collecting patient financial liabilities (copays, coinsurance, deductibles) while providing exceptional, hospitable customer service. Key Responsibilities High-Volume Registration: Accurately process 20 to 30+ patient registrations per shift, including document scanning and securing upfront collections. Insurance & Compliance: Perform thorough insurance verifications and ensure strict compliance with HIPAA and EMTALA (verifying medical screening/stabilization before discussing finances). Flexibility: Travel to off-site outpatient locations as needed to support facility operations. Required Qualifications & Experience Experience: 2+ years in a medical front office or hospital billing environment. Hospital registration/admitting experience is strictly required. Education: High school diploma or equivalent. Knowledge Base: Deep understanding of medical terminology, IPA, and eligibility requirements for Medicare, Medi-Cal, COBRA, Covered California, and other benefit programs. Certifications: Must obtain Non-Violent Crisis Intervention (NCI) Certification within 3 months and an LA City Fire Card within 6 months of hire. Essential Skills Technical Proficiency: Typing speed of 45+ WPM and the ability to efficiently navigate multiple software screens, including Microsoft Word and Excel. Communication: Excellent English written and verbal communication skills with telephone etiquette. Performance: Exceptional problem-solving skills, mathematical accuracy, and the ability to multitask decisively in a high-pressure medical environment.salary: $24.56 - $24.57 per hourshift: Firstwork hours: 5 PM - 1:30 AMeducation: High SchoolResponsibilitiesComplete a minimum of 20 registrations per 8-hour shift, striving for 30+ when possible. Ensure all patients are appropriately medically screened and stabilized before the Consent of Admissions is discussed, signed, or financial liability is requested (in strict accordance with EMTALA).
