An Optical Technician is needed for a manufacturing company considered one of the world's leading innovators in materials science in the Fairport, NY area. This role involves performing precision optical polarization measurements on lenses in a cleanroom environment using specialized metrology equipment, requiring strong hands-on skills, optical alignment experience, and data analysis capabilities.

responsibilities:
- Perform polarization and retardance measurements on individual lenses using the "Leopard" metrology station.
- Operate in a molecular cleanroom environment.
- Handle and align delicate optical components without causing damage.
- Align components on a rotation stage using mechanical indicators.
- Utilize custom instrumentation and analysis software for measurement tasks.
- strong hands-on skills working with fragile and precision equipment.
- Familiarity with optical testing tools such as interferometers, spectrometers, lasers, and detectors.
- Experience aligning optical systems and centering components to tight tolerances is a plus.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
- strong observational and analytical skills to detect anomalies.
- Ability to work independently following training.
- High school diploma or GED required (with relevant experience).
- Associate's degree preferred.
- 2-3 years of experience in optics or manufacturing preferred.
