Seeking a Marine Mechanical Engineer for a high growth DHS contractor in the DC area.
The Marine Mechanical Engineer would be responsible for support the U.S. Coast Guard's Ship Design Team in Washington, D.C. The role requires prior experience with developing ship propulsion and control systems, machinery arrangements, weight assessments, and conducting trade studies on propulsion components. Familiarity with U.S. Federal or commercial shipbuilding programs, standards, and regulations is also essential.

responsibilities:
- Support the U.S. Coast Guard's Ship Design Team in Washington, D.C.
- Provide technical support and design documentation for marine vessels, propulsion systems, and related equipment.
- Research and develop ship propulsion systems, including:
- Diesels, gas turbines, and diesel-electric systems
- Propellers, rudders, thrusters, gears, shafts, bearings, and seals
- Noise and vibration control
- Diesels, gas turbines, and diesel-electric systems
- Interfaces with dynamic positioning systems
- Develop system documentation and ship specifications.
- Oversee the development of machinery arrangements and conduct/oversee trade studies.
- Developing ship propulsion and control systems.
- Machinery arrangements and weight assessments.
- Conducting trade studies on propulsion component configuration.
- Familiarity with U.S. Federal or commercial shipbuilding programs, standards, and regulations.
- Must be able to acquire a Security Clearance.
