Our client is looking to add a Mechanical Designer to their team for a new project. This is a 6 month contract assignment located in Hamel MN.
In this role, you will be responsible for developing high-quality designs, detailed drawings, and technical specifications for industrial equipment. You will work under the direct guidance of senior engineers to move projects from initial concept to final release, ensuring every component meets our rigorous safety and performance standards.
This is a unique opportunity for a designer who enjoys a mix of mechanical layout and electrical systems integration, particularly within a dynamic railroad environment.
Essential Job Functions
- Design & Layout: Create conceptual layouts of machines, components, and systems based on engineering specifications.
- Electrical Integration: Read, edit, and create electrical schematics (ladder diagram format) and design physical electrical panels and enclosures.
- Documentation: Prepare and process Engineering Change Orders (ECO) and maintain accurate Bills of Materials (BOM).
- Collaboration: Maintain proactive communication between departments to ensure seamless project transitions and successful equipment releases.
Qualifications
- Education: Associate Degree in Design/Drafting
- Experience: 0+ years experience with CAD modeling and detail drafting.
- Licenses/Certifications: Obtain and maintain railroad safety training and credentials
- Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Working knowledge of business software including MS Office suite
