A R&D Thermal Engineer is needed for a leading cooling technology manufacturer near Greenville, SC. The R&D Engineer will lead the design, analysis, and validation of advanced cooling systems, driving projects from initial concept through high-stakes product optimization. This role requires a proactive mindset to solve complex thermal challenges and ensure robust system integration within a fast-paced R&D environment.
Candidates must hold an MS in Mechanical Engineering with 1-2 years of experience or be a PhD graduate. Proficiency in CFD simulation and hands-on experimental testing is required to validate thermal performance and identify technical risks. This is a direct hire role, and relocation is available for qualified candidates.

responsibilities:
- Lead thermal design and detailed analysis (CFD, heat transfer, fluid flow) for advanced liquid cooling systems
- Design and execute experimental test plans, including instrumentation setup and data acquisition, to validate performance
- Identify technical risks early and proactively develop solutions to meet critical project milestones
- Collaborate cross-functionally with mechanical and electrical teams to ensure seamless system integration
- Conduct root-cause analysis on technical issues and continuously improve design methodologies
- Provide technical mentorship to junior engineers and drive the transition of prototypes to production
