A Project Manager is needed for a manufacturing company considered one of the world's leading innovators in materials science in the Fairport, NY area. This role leads high-level technical optics programs by managing budgets, schedules, and cross-functional teams to deliver differentiated products while navigating the company's structured Tollgate innovation process.

responsibilities:
- Lead technical teams and manage various projects for the Advanced Optics (AO) division from initiation through delivery.
- Define and execute overall program plans, including project schedules, budgets, and resource allocation.
- Monitor customer requirements and scope changes to assess impacts on program strategy, risk, and value propositions.
- Collaborate with internal and external customers to interpret product perceptions and manage program scope.
- Develop and manage compelling business cases, including P&L, balance sheet implications, and market competition analysis.
- Communicate program direction, progress, and risks effectively to business leadership, corporate stakeholders, and team members.
- Identify commercial, technical, and manufacturing levers to improve the program's business case and differentiation.
- Oversee product testing and evaluation to ensure technical requirements and manufacturing implementation goals are met.
- Protect intellectual property and identify strategic control origins within the optics technology space.
- Ability to lead technical teams in resolution of problems and execution of strategy.
- Ability to interact with customers, building strong relationships for success.
- Ability to work cross functionally (commercial, technical, technology).
- Able to track and manage program spending, revenue, resources & schedule.
- Proficient use of Microsoft Office Tools (PowerPoint, Excel, Word, Project).
- Able to set project direction using project management tools (i.e., MS Project, risk assessment, scope management, etc.).
- Able to make sound decisions by blending analytical thinking with practical judgment.
- Require a BS in Engineering (Optical or Mechanical preferred) or an Associate's Degree with significant relevant experience.
- Possess 5-7+ years of experience with a proven record of executing complex technical programs.
