A Quality Technician is needed for a manufacturing company considered one of the world's leading innovators in materials science in the Fairport, NY area. This role requires an Associate degree with 2 years of technical manufacturing experience or a High School Diploma with 5 years of experience to manage the inspection, documentation review, and non-conformance disposition of optical parts while driving process improvements and cross-functional communication.

responsibilities:
- Report directly to a Quality Supervisor regarding Advanced Optics parts and materials.
- Focus on the quality disposition of parts and materials to ensure compliance with requirements.
- Review and release product and material documentation accurately and timely.
- Act as a liaison between the plant and key stakeholders to drive customer experience improvements.
- Collaborate closely with Engineering, Operations, and Procurement functions.
- Manage and transact production events and inventory related to non-conformances.
- Support containment and corrective action activities for quality issues.
- Monitor performance metrics consistent with job responsibilities.
- Update quality data and systems to ensure information accuracy.
- Drive process control, process discipline, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Support plant safety programs and achieve department requirements for safety, quality, and cost.
- Associate degree combined with at least 2 years of experience in a technical role within a manufacturing or production environment.
- Alternatively, a High School Diploma or GED combined with at least 5 years of experience in a technical role within a manufacturing or production environment.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
- Ability to multitask and prioritize work independently in a fast-paced environment.
- strong cross-functional communication and presentation skills.
- Capacity to learn new technologies and manufacturing processes quickly.
- Flexibility to work within a dynamic team and provide training to other staff.
- Ability to work effectively across all levels of the organization.
- Preferred experience with Quality Control, ISO 9001 standards, and ERP systems such as SAP.
- Preferred ability to interpret complex procedures and work instructions.
