We are seeking a highly experienced Construction and Safety Manager for an 8-month contract (with potential for extension) on-site in San Jose, CA, to lead a $25 million semiconductor R&D cleanroom retrofit. This critical role requires a technical leader with a degree in Engineering or Construction Management and at least 8-10 years of California-based experience managing complex facility expansions. You will be responsible for daily site coordination, change management, and enforcing a "zero incident" safety culture while keeping the project on its 8-month timeline. responsibilities:
- oversee construction sites and general contractors to ensure safety and quality standards
- partner with safety managers to resolve concerns and report incidents or near misses
- manage day to day coordination of construction activities and contractor efficiency
- ensure work aligns with project specifications and implement corrective actions for deviations
- coordinate change management and negotiate change order estimates with stakeholders
- review and manage contractor construction schedules and progress reports
- facilitate safety and quality meetings and collaborate with cross-functional teams
- support permitting efforts and coordinate building inspections with authorities
- conduct quality assurance inspections to verify compliance with customer requirements
- manage contractor onboarding and project team entry processes
- drive safety programs through root cause analysis and corrective action tracking
- provide key performance indicators and progress reports to project management
- perform other duties as assigned to support the project lifecycleinterpret technical standards and building procedures for site compliance
