The Avionics Communications Systems Engineer would be responsible for designing, configuring, and integrating SpaceWire protocol interfaces on Microchip PolarFire and Lattice FPGA architectures to manage high-speed spacecraft telemetry and data distribution.

responsibilities:
- Design, configure, and integrate SpaceWire protocol interfaces on Microchip PolarFire and Lattice FPGA architectures to manage high-speed spacecraft telemetry and data distribution.
- Develop low-level embedded software, board support packages (BSP), and drivers using FreeRTOS, LwIP, or Bare-metal C/C++ environments.
- Configure Gigabit Ethernet communications (1000BaseX) to enable rapid data throughput between payload processors, command modules, and sub-systems.
- Perform on-site hardware-in-the-loop (HITL) integration, testing, and debugging using logic analyzers, oscilloscopes, and protocol analyzers in a lab environment.
- Validate real-time protocol handling, packet processing, and memory management between the custom FPGA fabric and embedded processor cores.
- Diagnose and resolve low-level firmware bottlenecks, timing violations, and network communication errors.
- Collaborate with hardware, systems, and software engineering teams to align data transport requirements with space mission constraints.
- Write technical documentation, interface control documents (ICDs), and test plans for system verification.
