Our client is seeking a Controls Engineer to take full ownership of custom, high-speed packaging machinery within the stable Food & Beverage industry. Balancing office-based automation design with hands-on shop-floor integration, you will guide projects from initial electrical schematics and Allen-Bradley PLC programming through Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) and site startup. You will collaborate directly with mechanical engineering, manufacturing, and client teams to design, wire, and debug reliable automation solutions that directly impact physical machine performance.

responsibilities:
- Design, develop, and program electrical control systems for high-speed automated packaging machinery.
- Create and update electrical schematics and control panel designs using AutoCAD Electrical.
- Program, configure, and troubleshoot PLCs, HMIs, VFDs, servo motors, and motion control systems.
- Provide hands-on technical support and troubleshooting during machine assembly, testing, commissioning, and field installation.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing, Purchasing, and Field Service teams.
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical/Controls Engineering (or related field) preferred, with 3-5 years of controls engineering experience in industrial machinery.
- strong expertise in Allen-Bradley PLCs, motion control systems, HMIs, servos, VFDs, and 3-phase AC power systems.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD Electrical for control panel and schematic design.
- Familiarity with EtherNet/IP, AS-i, IO-Link, and compliance standards (NFPA 79, NFPA 70E, UL 508A, NEC).
- Must be able to manage a machine's controls lifecycle from start to finish, translating customer specs into working electrical designs, writing clean code, leading Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT), and supporting site startups.
