job summary:
A Construction Estimator is needed for a leading manufacturing organization. The Construction Estimator will develop comprehensive project cost estimates for industrial and commercial building renovations, facility improvements, and greenfield construction. Based primarily in the Lexington, KY area, this role works collaboratively across technical and executive teams to analyze conceptual designs and engineered drawings. The estimator supports production uptime and growth by delivering precise cost evaluations that optimize budget planning.
Candidates must have 3+ years of construction estimating experience. Proven ability to read construction drawings, interpret conceptual scopes, build bid proposals using CSI Master Format, and perform contractor cost gap analyses is required. Applicants must be willing to travel up to 10% domestically and internationally for meetings and site observations. This is a long-term contract role-slated to last at least a year with the possibility of extension. Our client is only seeking local talent currently.

responsibilities:
· Develop detailed project cost estimates for industrial and commercial facilities, ranging from minor building upgrades to greenfield developments
· Analyze conceptual designs, engineered drawings, and historical project data to calculate accurate unit costs and conceptual budgets
· Perform cost evaluations for proposed or completed construction projects to identify scope gaps and support organizational strategy
· Build bid proposals and budgetary estimates utilizing CSI Master Format guidelines and specialized estimating tools
· Collaborate with executive managers, engineers, and site managers to review estimates and support internal planning group members
· Assist in developing unit cost databases and enhancing internal estimating software tools to drive long-term cost precision
qualifications:
3+ years of project estimating experience for construction in industrial and/or commercial buildings. (Commercial & renovation experience)
Technical knowledge of design/building construction engineering and schedule management.
Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
Ability to create budgetary estimates based on a conceptual scope of work with very few drawings available.
Ability to create bid proposals, utilizing CSI Master Format, based on drawing packages and available models.
Ability to analyze contractor bids to locate potential scope gaps.
Ability to analyze completed project data to build historical project data for comparison with conceptual projects in development.
