Are you an accounting professional who prides themselves on accuracy, loyalty, and a deep understanding of the construction/development lifecycle?
We aren’t just looking for someone to "do the books"—we are looking for a long-term partner to maintain the financial integrity of one of Florida’s most prestigious communities.
The Role In this role, you will manage the full-cycle accounting for residential construction and land development projects. You will be the bridge between the field and the ledger, ensuring every project is tracked from the first shovel to the final closing.
Key Responsibilities:
- Project Accounting & Job Costing: Manage WIP (Work-in-Progress) reporting, ensuring all labor and materials are accurately coded to specific jobs and cost codes.
- Accounts Receivable: Oversee progress billings, bank draw requests, and member/resident accounts with high attention to detail.
- General Ledger Management: Perform month-end close procedures, prepare journal entries, and conduct bank/intercompany reconciliations.
- Compliance & Documentation: Track subcontractor insurance certificates and lien waivers to mitigate risk.
- Financial Analysis: Assist in variance analysis to keep projects on budget and provide insights to management.
- Experienced: You have solid experience in Accounts Receivable, Bookkeeping, and General Ledger operations, ideally within construction or real estate.
- Stable: You value tenure. We are looking for a candidate with a consistent employment history who seeks a "home" rather than just a job.
- Detail-Oriented: You understand that in construction accounting, a missed lien waiver or an incorrectly coded invoice can have major ripples.
- Tech-Savvy: You are highly proficient in Excel and experienced with accounting ERP software (Sage, Yardi, or similar).
- Location: Ormond Beach
- Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
- Compensation: Competitive salary based on experience ($55k–$70k range) plus a comprehensive benefits package.
salary: $55,000 - $70,000 per year
shift: First
work hours: 8 AM - 5 PM
education: Bachelors
Responsibilities
- Billing & Invoicing: Prepare and distribute monthly member statements, HOA dues, or amenity fees accurately.
- Payment Processing: Post payments via check, ACH, wire, and credit card to the correct member or vendor accounts.
- Collections: Monitor aging reports and diplomatically follow up on past-due balances with residents/members.
- Onboarding: Set up new member accounts and maintain accurate files in the club management system (often software like Jonas or ClubEssentials).
- Bank Reconciliations: Perform daily or weekly reconciliations for multiple cash accounts to ensure every dollar is accounted for.
- Daily Sales Audit: Reconcile point-of-sale (POS) reports from the golf shop, restaurants, and amenities against actual cash/credit receipts.
- Expense Tracking: Review and code vendor invoices to ensure they hit the correct department budgets (e.g., Landscaping vs. Food & Beverage).
This is where the "Staff Accountant" title differentiates itself from a clerk.
- Journal Entries: Prepare and post month-end adjustments, accruals, and depreciation.
- Month-End Close: Assist in closing the books on a tight deadline (usually within the first 5-7 business days of the month).
- Financial Analysis: Perform variance analysis (comparing actual spending vs. the budget) and provide explanations to department heads.
- Audit Support: Maintain a clean paper trail for year-end audits and tax filings.
