Responsibilities
- Reconcile payroll runs from Rippling to NetSuite journal entries on a per-pay-period basis.
- Validate that payroll components (gross wages, employer taxes, benefits contributions, garnishments, and net pay) map correctly to the appropriate GL accounts in NetSuite.
- Identify and resolve discrepancies between Rippling payroll reports and NetSuite actuals.
- Reconcile payroll liability accounts (accrued wages, payroll taxes payable, benefits payable) on the balance sheet.
- Review and validate payroll accruals at month-end for any mid-period cut dates.
- Ensure proper department and class coding of payroll expense in NetSuite.
- Prepare and post standard journal entries including accruals, prepaid amortization, and reclassifications.
- Perform balance sheet account reconciliations across assigned accounts each period.
- Support the close calendar by completing assigned tasks on schedule and flagging risks early.
- Prepare supporting schedules for financial statements as needed.
- Assist with flux analysis — explaining period-over-period variances in payroll and operating expenses.
- Coordinate with HR and payroll teams to obtain supporting data for reconciliations.
- Maintain clear, auditable workpapers for all reconciliations.
- Document reconciliation procedures so they can be transitioned to the internal team at project end.
- Flag any systemic mapping issues or process gaps discovered during the engagement.
