OVERVIEW The Budget Accountant uses independent judgment and analytical skills in a highly computerized environment with responsibilities for monthly preparation and analysis of estimated contractual adjustments, charity and bad debt, Medicare and Medicaid annual cost reports and settlements, annual budgeting, tax preparation, regulatory reporting, and cost analysis. This role continuously evaluates accounting processes and procedures, identifies opportunities for improvement, and implements solutions to support operational and financial integrity. ________________________________________ REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS EDUCATION – REQUIRED • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting OR • Bachelor's Degree in Finance or Business with an Accounting concentration o Accounting concentration is typically approximately 21 accounting credit hours EDUCATION – PREFERRED • Master's Degree in a related field ________________________________________ EXPERIENCE – REQUIRED Minimum 1 year of accounting experience involving: • Financial analysis • Budgeting • Financial statements • Account reconciliations • Variance analysis • Financial reporting EXPERIENCE – PREFERRED • Healthcare Accounting experience • Healthcare Finance experience • Medicare/Medicaid reimbursement or cost reporting exposure ________________________________________ CERTIFICATIONS – PREFERRED • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) ________________________________________ TECHNICAL SKILLS • Advanced Microsoft Excel (required) o Pivot Tables o VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP o Advanced formulas o Financial reporting and analysis • Financial analysis and reporting tools • ERP and accounting systems experience preferred ________________________________________ OTHER REQUIREMENTS • strong analytical and problem-solving abilities • Ability to interpret and communicate federal and state regulations • Ability to work independently and manage competing priorities • Experience working in highly computerized financial environments • strong attention to detail and organizational skills • Ability to collaborate with leadership, auditors, consultants, and regulatory agencies ________________________________________ KEY RESPONSIBILITIES • Complete complex accounting analyses requiring independent application of accounting theory • Prepare and analyze estimated contractual adjustments, charity, and bad debt reserves • Prepare and file Medicare and Medicaid annual cost reports and settlements • Prepare and maintain annual budgets • Prepare Federal, State, and Local tax returns

Responsibilities
• Complete complex accounting analyses requiring independent application of accounting theory
• Prepare and analyze estimated contractual adjustments, charity, and bad debt reserves
• Prepare and file Medicare and Medicaid annual cost reports and settlements
• Prepare and maintain annual budgets
• Prepare Federal, State, and Local tax returns
• Complete COPN regulatory reporting and cost analyses
• Interpret and communicate federal and state regulations
• Assess accounting functions and recommend process improvements
• Analyze financial data and provide recommendations to leadership
• Serve as liaison with regulatory agencies, taxing authorities, consultants, auditors, and Riverside leadership
• Maintain financial reporting accuracy and compliance
• Support cost analysis and budget planning initiatives
• Assist with audit preparation and regulatory reporting requirements
• Evaluate accounting processes and implement operational improvements where appropriate
