Position Overview We are seeking a hands-on, highly motivated Assistant Controller – Gaming Audit to oversee daily casino audit operations and financial reporting for our client's gaming side of the business.
Reporting directly to the Controller, this role is ideal for an experienced Casino Accounting Supervisor or Manager who is ready to take the next step in their career. You will lead and mentor a dedicated team of approximately 7–8 gaming auditors, ensuring strict compliance with regulatory standards, accurate daily operating reports, and smooth month-end closings.
The ideal candidate is a working manager who excels at coaching team members, handling complex Excel spreadsheets, and maintaining high operational standards across table games, slot, cage, and count room audit functions.
Required Qualifications & Experience
- Industry Experience: 3–5+ years of progressive casino accounting or gaming audit experience.
- Current Level: Must currently hold a Supervisor or Manager role within casino accounting/audit and be ready for the step up to Assistant Controller.
- Gaming Expertise: Deep working knowledge of gaming revenue transactions, cage procedures, count room processes, table games audit, and Gaming Control Board Minimum Internal Control Standards (MICS).
- Technical Proficiency: Advanced MS Excel capabilities (Pivot Tables, VLOOKUPs, formula manipulation, and managing audit workbooks).
- Leadership & Soft Skills: Patient, teaching-focused leadership style with proven ability to motivate a team, foster accountability, and manage diverse personalities.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred (practical, hands-on industry experience will also be evaluated).

Responsibilities
- Supervise, mentor, and coach a team of ~7–8 gaming auditors in their daily performance and audit functions.
- Oversee the review and compilation of numbers for the Daily Operating Report (DOR).
- Evaluate daily gaming audit procedures and proactively identify opportunities to improve operational efficiency and quality.
- Ensure all audit anomalies, revenue discrepancies, and cash variances are thoroughly investigated and resolved in a timely manner.
- Manage the month-end closing process for all gaming accounting records.
- Prepare and review journal entries, balance sheet account reconciliations, and supporting documentation.
- Assist the Controller with special financial projects and departmental analysis as needed.
- Maintain full compliance with state Gaming Control Board Minimum Internal Control Standards (MICS) and internal policies.
- Assist in preparing documentation and responses for state regulatory bodies, internal/external auditors, and tax authorities (e.g., IRS).
- Oversee audit compliance across count room operations, cage transactions, and table games revenue.
