In this role, you will perform second-level clinical reviews for high-impact targeted metrics, including DRG mismatches, compliance, CDI quality, and potential Patient Safety Indicators (PSIs). Operating from your dedicated home office, you will manage work queues, review audit recommendations, issue follow-up queries, and escalate complex cases to Physician Advisors when necessary. Additionally, you will serve as a trusted mentor and liaison across CDI, Coding, and Quality teams, identifying educational opportunities and providing valuable feedback to strengthen documentation practices across the organization. If you bring at least three years of acute hospital-based CDI experience, an active RN license, and a strong background in query practices and Coding Clinics, this position offers an ideal platform to showcase your expertise.

Responsibilities
Position Summary:
Serve as a second-level CDI reviewer and clinical subject matter expert, managing work queues, conducting post-coding/pre-bill chart reviews, evaluating queries, and providing mentorship across CDI, Coding, and Quality teams.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform second-level clinical reviews for targeted metrics, including DRG mismatches, compliance, and CDI quality.
- Review potential Patient Safety Indicators (PSIs) for exclusions and escalate unresolved cases to the Physician Advisor.
- Manage concurrent physician query escalation processes to support complete documentation prior to patient discharge.
- Evaluate audit recommendations, determine query validity, and issue required follow-up queries.
- Identify educational opportunities from record reviews and provide constructive feedback to CDI and Coding teams.
- Maintain daily productivity targets of 18–22 chart reviews with established query, response, and agreement benchmarks.
- Minimum 3 years of acute hospital-based CDI experience (academic medical center experience preferred).
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license required.
- Active Certified Clinical Documentation Specialist (CCDS) or Certified Documentation Improvement Practitioner (CDIP) credential required.
- In-depth knowledge of CDI guidelines, Coding Clinics, and query compliance practices.
- Excellent critical thinking, decision-making, and cross-functional communication skills.
