Responsibilities
We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Ocean Export Specialist to join our Ocean Freight team. The Ocean Export Specialist coordinates and executes international ocean freight export shipments from origin to destination. This role handles carrier bookings, prepares regulatory export documentation, monitors cargo milestones, and ensures full compliance with international trade laws and tariff regulations.
- Prepare, review, issue, and transmit accurate export documentation, including Master Bills of Lading (MBL), House Bills of Lading (HBL), Ocean Manifests, Dock Receipts, and Commercial Invoices.
- Write and distribute customer exception handling rules, fee schedules, classification rules, and post-entry procedures.
- CargoWise experience is strongly preferred.
- Verify unit conversions (currency, weight, volume, and distance) to align documentation with destination country requirements.
- Execute U.S. Automated Export System (AES) Electronic Export Information (EEI) filings in compliance with U.S. Census and Customs regulations.
- Coordinate container equipment returns and chassis management with ocean carriers and equipment pools.
- Track shipment milestones via ocean carrier portals and update the internal Transportation Management System (TMS).
- Understanding of FCL (Full Container Load) and LCL (Less than Container Load) shipping.
