Position Overview We are seeking an experienced Lead CNC Machinist to oversee and perform advanced machining operations on high-precision aerospace components. This role requires a hands-on leader who can mentor team members, ensure adherence to specifications, and drive continuous improvement in machining processes.
Key Responsibilities
- Set up and operate complex CNC milling and turning centers (3, 4, and 5-axis).
- Program and edit CNC code using G-code and CAM software (e.g., Mastercam, Fusion 360).
- Lead and train a team of machinists to ensure quality standards and production targets are met.
- Interpret complex engineering drawings, GD&T, and aerospace specifications.
- Perform in-process inspections using precision measuring instruments (micrometers, calipers, CMM, etc.).
- Collaborate with engineering and quality teams to improve processes and troubleshoot issues.
- Maintain tooling, fixtures, and machinery to ensure peak performance.
- Enforce and uphold safety protocols and 5S/lean manufacturing principles.
- 5+ years of CNC machining experience in a high-precision environment, preferably aerospace.
- Proven leadership or supervisory experience in a shop-floor setting.
- Knowledge of machining principles, cutting tools, feeds/speeds, and materials (aluminum, titanium, Inconel, etc.).
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings.
- Experience with aerospace quality standards (AS9100, NADCAP) is a plus.
- Excellent problem-solving, communication, and organizational skills.
