Lead the Gateway to the Pacific Randstad is currently identifying high-caliber Logistics Operations Leaders for permanent leadership roles within the San Francisco Bay Area’s premier freight forwarding and third-party logistics (3PL) firms. We are looking for strategic thinkers who have mastered the art of domestic freight movement and the legal complexities of international trade.
As a Direct Hire candidate, you aren't just managing shipments—you are managing P&L, optimizing carrier networks, and leading the teams that keep the global supply chain moving.
The Scope of Leadership: We are pipelining for two distinct but overlapping leadership tracks:
Domestic Operations Manager: Overseeing LTL/FTL, Intermodal, Drayage (Port of Oakland), and Last-Mile distribution.
International Freight Forwarding Manager: Leading teams focused on Ocean (NVOCC) and Air freight, Customs brokerage liaison, and global compliance.
Qualifications for the Bay Area Market:
- Experience: 5+ years in Freight Forwarding or 3PL Operations, with at least 3 years in a formal leadership/management role.
- Local Market Knowledge: Deep understanding of the Port of Oakland operations, SFO/OAK air cargo infrastructure, and California-specific labor and transport laws.
- Technical Expertise: Advanced proficiency in CargoWise One, SAP, or similar enterprise-scale logistics software.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain, or International Trade required; Master’s or LCB (Licensed Customs Broker) highly preferred.
- Onsite Presence: Ability to lead from the front, 100% onsite at facilities within the Bay Area.

- Total Compensation Negotiation: We don't just look at base salary; we negotiate bonuses, 401k matching, and car allowances.

Responsibilities
- Team Leadership: Recruit, mentor, and develop teams of 10+ Logistics Coordinators and Import/Export Agents.
- P&L Management: Own the operational budget, drive margin improvements, and manage vendor/carrier procurement strategies.
- Strategic Procurement: Negotiate high-level contracts with steamship lines, airlines, and national trucking fleets.
- Compliance Oversight: Serve as the final point of escalation for CBP, TSA, and DOT regulatory issues.
- Process Transformation: Implement or optimize TMS platforms (e.g., CargoWise) to increase team efficiency and visibility.
- Client Retention: Act as the "High-Level" point of contact for key accounts, ensuring service level agreements (SLAs) are exceeded.
