Responsibilities
- Set up and safely operate manual machinery, including Bridgeports, mills, lathes, surface grinders, band saws, and drill presses.
- Interpret mechanical blueprints, engineering drawings, and job specifications to determine dimensions, tolerances, and machining sequences.
- Machine a variety of materials (aluminum, steel, plastics, copper) to tight tolerances (+/- .001 or better) for custom tooling and machine components.
- Perform self-inspections of parts using standard measuring tools (micrometers, calipers, dial indicators, height gauges) to ensure adherence to quality standards.
- Determine the appropriate cutting tools, feeds, speeds, and fixtures required for each specific job.
- Work closely with the engineering and assembly teams to troubleshoot manufacturing challenges and ensure project deadlines are met.
