Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities
- Analyze Technical Documents: Review job orders, drawings, blueprints, and specifications to calculate dimensions, determine the sequence of machine operations, and select proper cutting tools, machine speeds, and feed rates to optimize production.
- Program Generation: Create and edit CNC programs using CAM packages such as Mastercam or GibbsCAM.
- Testing & Optimization: Test and revise programs to eliminate errors; retest programs to verify that all issues have been successfully resolved.
- Process Documentation: Create and maintain detailed process documentation—including instructions and in-process drawings or photos—so machinists can easily understand how to set up and run the programs.
- Simulation & Trial Runs: Observe machines on trial runs or conduct computer simulations to ensure programs and machinery function properly and produce items that meet exact specifications.
- Continuous Improvement: Work collaboratively with management, machinists, and operators to identify opportunities for process improvement within machine operations.
- Tooling Evaluation: Take primary responsibility for initiating, executing, and analyzing tooling tests.
- Programming Experience: 2+ years of experience as a CNC Programmer using a CAM package (such as Mastercam or GibbsCAM), G-code, M-code, and Mazatrol.
