What You’ll Do (Primary Responsibilities)
- Tool Maintenance: Perform routine preventative, predictive, and general maintenance on plastic injection molds.
- Troubleshooting & Problem Solving: Identify and resolve mold function problems, providing unique and effective solutions to technical concerns.
- Inventory & Storage: Maintain tool storage areas and manage inventories of mold polishing supplies, spare components, interchangeable inserts, and general shop supplies.
- Machining & Tools: Safely operate lathes, grinders, milling machinery, hand tools, power tools, and CNC machinery as required.
- Technical Support: Utilize basic knowledge of hot runner/valve gate systems and hydraulic issues, and perform basic welding (MIG/TIG) when applicable.
- Operational Duties: Read and interpret precision instruments, process detailed instructions for subcontracted work, and accurately track work time within the ERP system.
- Experience/Education: Completion of a Mold Maker apprenticeship AND/OR at least five (5) years of experience as a Mold Maker.
- Technical Skills: Ability to read and fully comprehend all levels of technical design drawings.
- Certifications & Equipment: Must be able to operate a forklift and crane, and strictly adhere to Lockout/Tagout procedures.
- Mathematical Skills: basic math skills, including proficiency in algebra, trigonometry, and geometry.
- Physical Capabilities: Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and torque up to 350 lbs.
- Flexibility: Ability to multitask through frequent interruptions, and willingness to work extended/flexible hours, including weekday or weekend overtime as needed.
