Position Summary We are seeking a skilled CNC Lathe Setup Machinist to set up and operate CNC turning centers (utilizing Okuma and Fanuc controls) to machine precision aerospace components directly from solid bar stock.
- Requirements: Experienced in CNC lathe setups, blueprint reading, and performing in-process quality inspections using standard measuring tools such as micrometers, calipers, comparators, and thread gages.

Responsibilities
- Machine Setup & Operation: Perform complete machine setups, tool installations, offset adjustments, and operational runs on CNC lathes (including Okuma and Fanuc controls) using technical drawings and setup sheets.
- Bar Stock Machining: Load, align, and operate bar-fed turning equipment and multi-axis machines to precision-turn components from solid bar stock and castings.
- Tight Tolerance Holding: Consistently hold tight engineering tolerances down to +-/ 0.0001” and maintain required micro-inch surface finishes on turned diameters, threads, sealing surfaces, and custom fitting profiles.
- Blueprint & Technical Interpretation: Interpret engineering drawings, CAD models, blueprint specifications, and GD&T requirements to execute precise machining sequences and tool path adjustments.
- In-Process Quality Inspection: Perform full first-article and ongoing in-process dimensional checks using precision inspection tools, including OD micrometers, calipers, height gages, thread/plug gages, and optical comparators.
- Process Optimization & Maintenance: Perform routine 6S workspace organization, daily preventive machine maintenance, and SPC data entry while identifying opportunities for cycle-time reduction and continuous process improvement.
